Nevertheless, like many innovative startups, VanMoof experienced difficulties, and a reboot was needed.
THE RESTRUCTURE:
In June 2023, the company embarked on a restructuring phase to safeguard its longevity, thus leaving riders with limited access to maintenance and support.
THE REBIRTH OF VANMOOF:
In 2023, Maclaren Applied, the renowned engineering and technology company, kick-started VanMoof’s new chapter. The rebirth, by keeping the essence of the original brand but re-engineering it for the ever-evolving city, is a dedication to restoring riders' trust, enhancing dependability, and creating a sustainable business model.
WHAT HAS CHANGED:
Under McLaren Applied, VanMoof has stabilized its operations and improved its flagship models — the new S5 and A5. These bikes represent a new pinnacle for VanMoof's e-bike technology, boasting features like the Halo Ring Interface, smart shifting, and integrated anti-theft systems.
Improvements include a restructured supply chain, firmware updates for greater reliability, and expanded support networks to ensure riders have access to servicing within reach.
At the core of VanMoof's strategy are transparency and trust; by tackling issues like repairability and service accessibility, the brand hopes to rebuild trust and reignite riders' passion for its cutting-edge and innovative bikes.
